In an effort to make things easier for both students and chief’s regarding the submission of the Chief Officer Authorization Form we made some edits to the LESTA Website. You no longer have to get the piece of paper signed and emailed back to me (Unless you want to, this option will always remain available), the Chief(s) or Training Officer who are authorizing their member to come take a LESTA Sponsored class can simply go onto our website, fill out the online form and select the class or multiple classes they want to attend. This will cut down on approval time and your members seeking you out individually to get your physical signature. One online submission form per student/member please. You can add multiple classes to one submission if needed, (ex. Pumps 1, Ropes 1..ect)
Now with this might come with some ethical concerns if a member of your department fills out the online form on your behalf without a chief approval. So, to combat this we added your email as the chief or training officer as a field at the bottom that is required and once the form is submitted, the student, chief and myself will all get an email that a submission has been made. It is on you as the officer to vet this information at that point.
After the submission has been made, I will then go in and approve the student to attend the course by switching their status in PA Train from “Pending” to “In Progress”.
Again, the old school way of emailing the authorization form is still acceptable and will always remain in place.
